Reading a +850 number

• •Landlines start with an area code, for example +850 2 XXX XXXX for Pyongyang.
• •Local time: 3:03 AM in Pyongyang right now, an unusual hour for a genuine call.

• •Don't call back a number you don't recognize. One-ring scams hang up after a ring or two so you return the call, which can add a per-minute charge on top of an international rate.
• •Caller ID can be faked. The code shown is not proof of where the caller really is.
• •Real callers leave a message. If it matters, they'll text, email or leave a voicemail. Otherwise, block the number.
