Google Fi Wireless runs on the T-Mobile network in the US, and its four plans cost from $20 (Flexible, plus $10/GB) to $65 a month for one line, before taxes and fees. Unlimited Essentials works only in the US, Unlimited Standard adds Canada and Mexico, and Unlimited Premium and Flexible include data in 200+ destinations.

Network: T-Mobile (Designed for Fi phones can also use partner networks) Google Fi provides nationwide 4G LTE and 5G coverage through the T-Mobile network.

International calling and travel

  • Unlimited Essentials does not work outside the US.
  • Unlimited Standard includes international use in Canada and Mexico only.
  • Calls from the US to Canada or Mexico are included on all plans except Unlimited Essentials, where per-minute rates apply.
  • Calls from the US to countries outside North America are included to 50+ destinations on Unlimited Premium; other plans pay per-minute rates.
  • Per-minute rates for calls to destinations not included start at 1 cent per minute.
  • Texts from the US to other countries have no additional charge.
  • When abroad outside North America, cellular calls to the US cost $0.20 per minute on Flexible and Unlimited Premium and are not available on Unlimited Standard or Essentials.
  • In covered countries outside the US, Canada and Mexico, data costs $10/GB on Flexible, is included on Unlimited Premium, and is not available on Unlimited Essentials or Standard.
  • Service must be activated and used in the US for at least one day before it can be used abroad.
  • Extended use outside the US, typically 50 days, triggers a warning, and international data is suspended 30 days after that email.

eSIM

  • iPhones can be signed up and activated using eSIM.
  • On Android, eSIM activation requires Android 11 or later.
  • Unlimited Premium and Flexible customers can add data-only eSIMs at no extra monthly cost.

Bringing your own phone and number

  • Most unlocked Android and Apple devices work on Google Fi.
  • A device brought to Google Fi must be unlocked by the previous carrier.
  • Phones designed for Fi can use several partner networks including T-Mobile; other compatible phones use only the T-Mobile network.
  • Apple Watch is not compatible with Google Fi.

Network management: speeds, hotspot and video

  • Google Fi says its users are not subject to data traffic deprioritization during times of high network usage.
  • After 15 GB (Flexible), 30 GB (Unlimited Essentials), 50 GB (Unlimited Standard) or 100 GB (Unlimited Premium) in a bill cycle, data is slowed to 256 kbps until the next cycle.
  • Full-speed data can be restored before the cycle ends for $10 per GB.
  • On the Unlimited plans, Fi streams video at up to 480p; on Flexible, video streams at the rate set by the user and the app provider.
  • Google Fi applies reasonable network management to protect its network and users and ensure reliable service.

Which network does Google Fi use?

Does Google Fi work in Mexico and Canada?

It depends on the plan. Unlimited Essentials does not work outside the US. Unlimited Standard includes international use in Canada and Mexico only. In covered countries outside the US, Canada and Mexico, data costs $10/GB on Flexible, is included on Unlimited Premium, and is not available on Unlimited Essentials or Standard. Unlimited Premium and Flexible also cover more than 200 destinations.

How much does Google Fi really cost per month?

Unlimited Essentials costs $35 per month in total for one person and $60 in total for two people. Unlimited Premium costs $65 per month for one person and $55 per line for two people. Taxes and government surcharges are added to plan prices and are normally 10% to 20%, depending on the service address. A promotion gives 50% off for 12 months to new lines that bring a Google Pixel phone to an unlimited plan; it ends October 31, 2026. Prices per line drop with more lines on the same plan.
