Reading a +242 number

• •Mobile if the digits after +242 start with 01–02 or 04–06 (+242 06 XXX XXXX).
• •Landlines start with an area code, for example +242 22 XXX XXXX for Cuvette.
• •Premium rate if it starts with 80 after +242: never call these back.
• •Local time: 9:42 AM in Brazzaville right now.

• •Don't call back a number you don't recognize. One-ring scams hang up after a ring or two so you return the call, which can add a per-minute charge on top of an international rate.
• •Caller ID can be faked. The code shown is not proof of where the caller really is.
• •Real callers leave a message. If it matters, they'll text, email or leave a voicemail. Otherwise, block the number.
