Reading a +598 number

•Mobile if the digits after +598 start with 91–99 (+598 94 XXX XXX).
•Landlines start with an area code, for example +598 2123 XXXX for Montevideo.
•Premium rate if it starts with 90 after +598: never call these back.
•Local time: 6:11 AM in Montevideo right now, an unusual hour for a genuine call.

•Don't call back a number you don't recognize. One-ring scams hang up after a ring or two so you return the call, which can add a per-minute charge on top of an international rate.
•Caller ID can be faked. The code shown is not proof of where the caller really is.
•Real callers leave a message. If it matters, they'll text, email or leave a voicemail. Otherwise, block the number.
