Reading a +688 number

• •Mobile if the digits after +688 start with 70–71 or 90 (+688 90 XXXX).
• •Landlines start with an area code, for example +688 20 XXX for Funafuti.
• •Local time: 9:01 AM in Funafuti right now.

• •Don't call back a number you don't recognize. One-ring scams hang up after a ring or two so you return the call, which can add a per-minute charge on top of an international rate.
• •Caller ID can be faked. The code shown is not proof of where the caller really is.
• •Real callers leave a message. If it matters, they'll text, email or leave a voicemail. Otherwise, block the number.
